Mark Buchignani, Senior Engineering Manager at Sony Santa Monica speaks about what it takes to join the studio and the God of War team. Mark has been in the game industry forever, beginning his career at Mattel Electronics, as an assembly language programmer. After Mattel closed the division, he joined a fledgling company started by ex-Mattel people, at the time called Beyond Software, later renamed Stormfront Studios. There, he shipped games on Commodore 64, Sega Genesis, and several generations of PC, before being kicked upstairs as Technical Director and, eventually, Director of Product Development. And when they closed up shop, he took on various programming and design management roles at Rainbow Studios, THQ San Diego, Trion Worlds, Codex Worlds, and, most recently, Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.
